Abstract

In this paper it was presented a short review on the History of Plant Nematology. Basic data from the General Nematology used as steps for the development of this important agriculturalscience were sequentially reported. First plant parasitic nematodes findings in the world, theestablishment of the basic definitions, principles, methods and old historical issues were included.Names and contributions of those more proficient plant nematologists were emphasized. Finally,it was considered the development of the Plant Parasitic Nematology in Brazil, since itsprimordium. High detach was given to Dr. Luiz Gonzaga E. Lordello, acclaimed as The Fatherof The Brazilian Nematology. Details on his academics and scientific followers may be seen inthe final part of the text.
