Management and legislation of solid waste: a scientometric analysis of international productions

Abstract

The objective of the study is to analyze scientific productions on solid waste over the past five years (2018 - 2022) in scientific journals from a theoretical-methodological perspective through quantitative research and review using Web of Science. The methodology used to achieve this objective was scientometrics, based on the collection and analysis of bibliographic and citation data to obtain objective information in publications by journals; publications by countries, authors, keywords, and terms in the texts. The results highlight a growing trend in the number of publications in the field of solid waste between 2019 and 2022, enabling the development of new mechanisms to address the issues generated by this waste in the environment, with the highest peak of publications on the topic in 2022, and the USA standing out as the country with the most publications. It is concluded that this study plays an important role in understanding the dynamics of contemporary scientific research, providing valuable insights into trends, impact, and collaborations in the academic world. Through quantitative analysis of scientific publications, scientometrics empowers researchers, institutions, and funders to make informed decisions, promote research excellence, and allocate resources effectively.
