Abstract

Cutaneous lymphoma is a lymphoid tumor characterized by the clonal proliferation of neoplastic lymphoid cells in the superficial or deep strata of the skin. From the histological examination, depending on the tropism of the neoplastic cells in relation to the epithelium, it can be classified into epitheliotropic cutaneous lymphoma and non-epitheliotropic cutaneous lymphoma, with the epitheliotropic form being the most prevalent. The disease has a malignant, progressive character and particular clinical signs: serpiginous and erythematous skin lesions, focal or disseminated, in addition to being able to have an atypical presentation, with lesions focally on the mucous membranes. Diagnosis in dogs involves the patient's clinical history, laboratory, cytological, histopathological and immunohistochemical tests of the tumor tissue. Chemotherapy emerges as the most appropriate therapeutic modality, however, surgical treatment, radiotherapy, or both, can also be used as a complement to treat cases with localized presentations. Given the aggressive and difficult-to-control course of the pathology, the prognosis is considered unfavorable.
